Organic waste of natural origin that is biodegradable. This includes kitchen waste such as fruit and vegetable scraps, leftover food, and garden waste such as grass clippings and leaves.

A professional system for the aerobic (oxygen-based) composting of organic waste. Microorganisms convert kitchen waste into high-quality humus under controlled conditions – quickly, hygienically, and with minimal odor.

The climate advantage over landfilling: Aerobic composting prevents the formation of methane (CH₄), a greenhouse gas with 25 times the climate impact of CO₂. While landfilling involves the anaerobic decomposition (without oxygen) of organic waste, producing methane, aerobic composting releases only biogenic CO₂ – carbon that was previously absorbed from the atmosphere by plants and is part of the natural carbon cycle.

In addition, a portion of the carbon (approximately 30%) is permanently bound in the resulting compost. The result: avoided methane emissions, usable fertilizer instead of landfill waste, and a documented contribution to climate goals and ESG compliance.

As a rule of thumb: Anything a person can consume, raw or cooked, plus coffee grounds, loose tea (without bags), plant cuttings, wood (e.g. cutlery) and twigs, organic (cardboard) dishes can be put into the machine and will result in a usable end product – organic compost.

Yes, meat, fish, eggs – the machine has a hygiene function that heats the unit to at least 70°C (160°F) for 60 minutes to kill 97.3–99.9% of harmful pathogens and bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella. Once the hygiene process is complete, the compost can also be used as fertilizer.

Anything that is not organic – for example, non-biodegradable plastics, glass, metal products, but also larger quantities of oyster or mussel shells. Throwing these items into the machine can lead to machine damage and malfunctions.

Small bones such as chicken and fish bones can be added to the system. Large pig bones, lamb leg bones, or beef bones are not recommended.

For larger waste such as thick bones, branches or seafood shells, a shredder (chopper) can be integrated from model size Q-150 upwards, which pre-shreds these materials and thus enables processing.

The units can process small amounts of garden waste such as grass and leaves without a shredder. It is not recommended to add longer plant roots, as these could become entangled in the internal agitator. However, shredded plant roots can be added to the composter.

It’s not mandatory, but we recommend refreshing the microorganisms annually to optimize composting performance. With the rental model, we take care of this for you free of charge as part of our customer service.

Biological processes within the machine are not affected by small amounts of non-biodegradable material. However, these materials take up valuable space in the machine and should be avoided.

Qompost composting systems are designed to process up to 20% excess material. If this threshold is exceeded, the compost will not fully harden and there is a risk of odor formation.

No, aerobic composting in a closed system inherently produces fewer odors. Furthermore, the exhaust air is filtered and deodorized using UV-based processes.

Yes, the system needs to be connected to a power supply 24 hours a day for the process to run smoothly. However, depending on the moisture content of the waste, it only consumes about 8 to 11 hours of electricity.

The blower for air supply and chamber heating, however, must be operational 24 hours a day. For specific guidelines, please request our electricity consumption tables via our contact form.

No. The system is fully automated. Employees simply need to add organic waste and activate the machine. No special qualifications are required.
