At the same time, our waterways remain largely untapped for fast transport due to wake creation, pollution, and the high running costs of conventional vessels. With a speed of 25 knots mph, silent operation, no wake, and a far lower cost per passenger mile than traditional diesel ferries, Candela P-12 is unlocking the full potential of our waterways.

Combining a range of 40 nautical mile with a 25 knot cruising speed, the P-12 is the first electric ferry with enough range at speed to replace diesel vessels. So, any harbour is accessible, thanks to a flexible bow ramp that fits different dock heights and fully retractable foils.

The P-12 can recharge its battery in under an hour using a standard DC fast charger. So, the need for specialized and costly marine charging infrastructure is eliminated, making deployment fast and cost-effective.
With 80% reduced energy consumption, a low-maintenance electric drivetrain, and predictive maintenance, operators achieve significantly lower operating expenses than with conventional diesel ferries. Therefore, the transition to sustainable fleets has never been easier.
Engineered for fast turnarounds, the P-12 Shuttle electric ferry transitions from foiling to docked and back again to foiling mode in just two minutes—saving valuable time on routes with many stops. The innovative bow ramp is free-floating, minimizing movement when docking in swells to ensure safe and easy passenger access. Since the P-12 is designed for flexibility, it works with dock heights ranging from 0.3 to 1.9 meters, enabling the P-12 to use most existing infrastructure. When new docks are needed, only modest investment is required—a standard floating dock will suffice. The ramp is also wide enough to accommodate passenger flow in both directions simultaneously. Also, the P-12 is equipped with dual C-Pod motors and advanced thrust vectoring. Therefore, it offers exceptional maneuverability, ensuring safe, precise docking even in tight or challenging conditions.

The P-12 Shuttle has 30 seats + 1 captain. Also, there is room for bikes and wheelchair seating and the maximum payload is 3 000kg
The P-12 Shuttle will have a Type approval- DNV Craft with passenger and battery notation. For local standards and certifications please contact Candela to discuss further.
The P-12 Shuttle handles rough water very well. Significant wave height HS 1 meter when foiling and HS 2 meters when not foiling. However, if the weather conditions are too rough, simply land, and the P-12 Shuttle works very well as a normal planing catamaran.
Actually, the foils are made of carbon fiber which makes them extremely strong. Therefore, hitting smaller debris has little to no effect. This is while, hitting bigger objects – a log or rock for example – will result in the foil breaking at a designated breaking point. Also, the breaking point is positioned to maximize protection of the hull from impact.
